AMC:Agribusiness Management Center, a division of Horticulture Produce Management Institute (HPMI), HPMI has two specialized activities i.e. “Farmers Club” for empowerment of small and marginal farmers by providing them one stop solution for additional income generation through agriculture based livelihood options and “Intellectual Group” for developing a Knowledge hub for bringing highly qualified and experienced technical people under one platform and disseminating the knowledge to the stakeholders, farmer and agriprenures. HPMI also has separate wings for self-sustainable commercial operations to sustain the organization.
As we know that 70% of our rural population are the small and marginal farmers including landless people. Therefore, to provide them an option for additional income generation for the rural population without having land for their sustainability is a most important agenda to ensure the growth of the agrarian economy, the backbone of our countries growth. Quail farming can give Rs. 5000/- per month to a average rural family with a investment of about Rs. 60,000/- ensuring 100% return on the investment. Quail meat & eggs have a wonderful domestic potential as well as export potential, therefore there can be a visible impact in one year, if the clusters are developed. This activity will also open up many direct and indirect avenues for unemployed people.
